IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Exam will start from September this year as per the official calendar of IBPS. You can go through some important tips that will help you prepare Reasoning Ability section efficiently in the upcoming IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I Exam 2017.


Reasoning Ability is a major segment of RRB Exams. 40 questions will be asked from this section in the Preliminary phase and so it is crucial that you have a clear idea about how you can prepare Reasoning Ability section for IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I Exam!
Before we begin, we would like to say that, do not wait out for the official notification to be released to start your preparation. You know that the exams will start from September. So, make maximum use of the time you have right now!

Reasoning Preparation Tips for IBPS RRB Officer Scale I 2017

In order to clear the IBPS RRB selection process, first, let us have a look at some common tips that you should follow while preparing for Reasoning section.

1. Time Management

  • The preliminary exam of IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I is qualifying in nature but in order to be eligible for the second phase of this exam, you need to clear the sectional as well as an overall cutoff.
  • This is where Efficient Time Management becomes essential.
  • You need to divide the 45 minutes that will be allotted for prelims carefully between the 2 sections, in order to clear cut offs of both levels.
  • Make sure that you devote at least 20 minutes to this section in the exam.

2. Conceptual Clarity

  • Conceptual clarity is of prime importance. 
  • Get a clear idea of IBPS RRB officer scale 1 syllabus.
  • The overall level and the pattern of the topics asked in exam has been varying a lot in the past 2 years. You never know what new pattern IBPS might introduce this year.
  • To avoid such surprises in the exam, it is crucial that you have all your concepts clear.
  • This is because questions in the exam are asked from a fixed set of topics. The only variation is the manner in which they are presented.
  • If you understand the basic approach of any topic, attempting it would be comparatively easy, no matter how it is asked in the exam.

3. Regular Practice

  • This is the key to clear any exam.
  • No matter how much you mug up formulas/ concepts of topics, unless you practice the questions based on those topics, you won’t be able to attempt them properly in exams.
  • Topics like Puzzles and Seating Arrangements take up a lot of time in the exam and they are asked in large number. So, make a habit of practising 5-10 questions from this topic daily.
  • This practice will help you build up your speed and you’ll be able to solve questions in less time.
  • Try to devote at least 2-3 hours regularly to practice of the topics that you study.

4. Mock Tests

  • Attempting mock tests is equally important for you at this stage.
  • Mock tests not only help you practice in proper exam interface but also be helpful in smooth movement across sections.
  • They will help you track your performance and also get you ready for the actual exam in a much better way.
  • Mock tests will also help you with time management in the actual exam since you’ll be used to the time frame in which you attempt the 2 sections in RRB Officer Scale - I Exam.

5. Regular Self Analysis

  • Analysing how you have been performing is very important. You can take an idea from IBPS RRB cut off officer scale 1 and plan your studies accordingly. 
  • Unless you keep a check on your performance status in different topics, you won’t be able to identify which of them need more practice.
  • Analysis of mock tests is imperative. When you go through your performance in mock tests, you’ll able to identify your mistakes better, and this will eventually help you in the exam.

Topic Wise Tips

  • The majority of the questions in Reasoning section will be from topics like Puzzles and Seating Arrangement. Don’t think of completely skipping these topics.  Try to devote maximum time to these topics. But first, understand the basic approach to solve puzzles and arrangement based questions.
  • Inequality is asked in almost all reasoning sections of different bank exams. Also, Inequality is probably the easiest topic of Reasoning section. So, have a very thorough practice of this topic. You can easily expect 5 questions from it.
  • Syllogism questions should be practised based on new as well as the old pattern. Although the possibility of new pattern based questions being asked in the Prelims phase is less, still, you should know how to solve such questions.
  • Same goes for Coding- Decoding topic as well. If practised well, this topic will easily fetch you 4-5 marks in the exam.
  • Blood Relations and Direction based questions are also easy topics of the Reasoning section. First, understand how to solve questions of Blood relations and direction sense, and then begin your practice. Try to solve blood relations based puzzle questions as well.
  • Questions from Alphanumeric Series/ Alphabet test are often asked in RRB Exams. These topics are less time taking and can be easily attempted.

Government notifies Wetland (Conservation and Management) Rules 2017.

Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has notified new Wetland (Conservation and Management) Rules 2017 to prohibit range of activities in wetlands. Rajnish Kumar new SBI chairman as Arundhati Bhattacharya retires

Rajnish Kumar, 59, the senior most of the managing directors at State Bank of India (SBI), will become the 25th chairman of the country’s largest lender, succeeding Arundhati Bhattacharya, who is set to retire on 6 October. The government on Wednesday announced his appointment for three years. Kumar currently is in charge of retail banking at SBI. Kumar’s appointment comes at a time when SBI’s profitability is under strain because of ballooning bad loans and sluggish credit growth. At the end of June, the bank was weighed down by gross non-performing loans of Rs1.88 trillion. Gross bad loans account for almost one-tenth of its total advances. SBI is also the lead bank in a majority of the 40 cases referred for bankruptcy proceedings at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). “Asset quality is a challenge.
